Horticulturist welcomed to Lockerly Arboretum

Lockerly Arboretum welcomed Carter Payne onto its full-time staff earlier this month as its horticulturist.Payne grew up in Western North Carolina near the Blue Ridge Mountains. Surrounded by a lush landscape with a large ecosystem to discover, plants piqued his interests at a young age.

Learning in Retirement held their monthly meeting at Freedom Church Feb. 21, where Associate Professor of Fiction and Nonfiction Writing at Georgia College Dr. Kerry B. Neville was the featured speaker. Neville shared poems and inspiring writings. 
“Life of a Flower” showcased many ceramic pots with live flowers inside throughout the Marlor House. The ceramic pots on the mantle piece were aligned to visually showcase the life cycle of a flower and its slow process of decay.

Allied Arts hosts multi-gallery exhibition

Allied Arts hosted a multi-gallery reception Feb. 14 featuring “My Abstract City” by the Boys & Girls Club and “Life of a Flower” by Georgia College’s Ceramics I students.

Galentine’s Day’ gains momentum at the Morning Grind

The Morning Grind coffee shop has served the city of Milledgeville's local and student populations for nearly three years and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down. On Feb. 12 the small business hosted its 2nd annual “Galentine’s Day” event.
