City council hears requests for budget increases

The Milledgeville City Council met April 23 and discussed the final budget proposals from Main Street, the building department and public works. The meeting opened with Mayor Pro Tempore Denese Shinholster explaining that Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan was virtually sitting in on this meeting.

Building materials stolen from Pavilion Circle On April 19, law enforcement was notified that over $2,000 worth of pipe, valves, and other building materials were stolen from 155 Pavilion Circle. The property was purchased to be turned into low-income housing.

BOC to vote on roads to be resurfaced

The Baldwin County Board of Commissioners is scheduled May 7 to select the first roads to be resurfaced with funds approved in last year’s sales tax referendum. Voters by a wide margin approved the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) in November, and collection of the extra penny began April 1.

JMA Algebra class publishes 'Brain Aneurysm in a Book'

Nathalie Boelen's ninth-grade Algebra 1 class at John Milledge Academy (JMA) recently published a book that will be used as a learning tool for the future. Boelen is a math teacher at JMA and has been teaching a class of 23 ninth graders for the past semester.
