The Georgia College & State University women's basketball squad (15-13, 7-11 PBC) picked up a 53-36 midweek win over Flagler College (6-21, 3-14 PBC), but suffered an 82-78 weekend loss at Columbus State University (15-11, 9-9 PBC) to cap off its regular season.

GMC Prep hires new head football coach

Georgia Military Preparatory School has finally found its new head football coach.
After spending the past six years at Pepperell in northwest Georgia as its offensive coordinator, Bobby Rhoades was named the Bulldogs’ new head football coach last week.

The Baldwin High School boys’ basketball team made some noise in Class 4A Region 2, winning three-straight games in the region playoffs to secure the program’s third-consecutive region championship.

Georgia College & State University (GCSU) women’s basketball (14-12, 6-10 PBC) took a narrow road win at Lander University last week, followed up by a home loss to Clayton State University.
The first contest was a real nailbiter as the Bobcats earned a 63-62 win Feb.

Trojans, Lady Trojans get set for state tourney

The Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) basketball postseason began this week, and both the John Milledge Academy boys and girls qualified for the Class AAA tournaments.
The Trojans are rolling this season under first-year head coach Mitch Risley.

Georgia College & State University (GCSU) softball (10-3) won fivestraight games Feb. 17-19, to win the annual Bobcat Battle Tournament at the GCSU Peeler Complex, over Southern Wesleyan University (SWU), Converse University (CU) and Mars Hill University (MHU).

BHS teams set up to make state tournament

Baldwin High School will have both its boys’ and girls’ basketball teams in the first round of the GHSA Class 4A state tournament next week.
The Braves finished the regular season with a 14-10 overall record and an 8-4 in region play.

Georgia College & State University (GCSU, 4-2) went 1-1 Feb. 8, in a softball doubleheader at home against Albany State University (ASU). The home team took a tough 2-1 loss in the opening game against the Golden Rams, but rebounded with a big five-inning, 9-1 win in the second contest.
