Pickleball popularity continues but courts deteriorate

GCSU baseball loses 2, wins 1 at Young Harris

Georgia College & State University Baseball (3-11, 3-3 PBC) took a couple of tough series losses March 4, but rebounded with a win the next day while visiting No. 25 Young Harris College (13-6, 6-3 PBC) in North Georgia.

Bobcats beat Cougars in softball conference play

The Georgia College & State University (GCSU) softball team (13-6, 3-3 PBC) opened up Peach Belt Conference (PBC) home play with a 2-1 split over Columbus State University (12-7, 1-2 PBC), including a six-inning 8-0 shutout victory in game two.

Late run lifts Griffin over Bravettes to win state title

Griffin (27-4) used a late run in the fourth quarter to power it past Baldwin (23-9) in the Class AAAA girls state championship game on Wednesday night at the Macon Coliseum. The Lady Bears outscored the Bravettes 8-0 in the final 1:47 of regulation to secure the 51-47 win.

Braves’ defense pushes Baldwin into quarterfinals

Around this time last year, the Baldwin boys basketball team was knocked out of the GHSA Class 4A state playoffs in the second round. This year, the Braves are looking to make another late playoff push like they did two years ago during its state championship run.

Bravettes find momentum after falling short in region championship

After losing to Griffin High School in the Region 2 championship game, the Baldwin girls basketball team has won three straight in the Class 4A state playoffs. The Bravettes defeated Shaw High School in the first round and Troup County in the second.

Trojans’ senior presence key to repeat championship

The John Milledge Academy (JMA) Trojans finished the 2022 baseball season as GISA AAA State Champions by beating Pinewood Christian Academy 6-5 last spring in their third matchup of the title series. Coming off a state championship season can be difficult, though.

GCSU men’s basketball splits games to end season

Georgia College & State University (GCSU) men's basketball put up 101 points to 87 by Flagler College Feb. 22, for a Senior Night victory, but took a tough 67-65 road loss last Saturday at Columbus University to put a cap on the Bobcats’ 2022-23 season.

GCSU baseball beats Flagler 2-1 in conference games

The Georgia College & State University (GCSU) baseball team (3-8, 2-1 PBC) visited Flagler College (1-12, 1-5 PBC) Feb. 24-26, in St. Augustine, Fla., where they picked up 2-0 and 12-3 victories on Friday and Saturday but fell 2-1 on Sunday.
