The Milledgeville City Council met on Tuesday for the first time in 2023 and hosted three public hearings. The first public hearing was to discuss amending the Land Development Code for a text amendment to allow beauty shops and barber shops by right within the Office Institutional (OI) District.

Law enforcement pursues stolen vehicle

Law enforcement was involved in a vehicle pursuit Jan. 5 after Barloshon Yarber had reportedly taken the vehicle belonging to his wife. Officers heard the vehicle approaching South Jefferson Street after failed attempts to find the vehicle in other parking lots.

Juvenile shot in parking lot of Quality Pawn

The Milledgeville Police Department is currently investigating a robbery followed by aggravated assault that occured in the area of Dairy Queen and Quality Pawn. A juvenile suspect is alleged to have run between a vehicle and drive-thru snatching a bag of food from a store employee.
