Georgia College & State University (GCSU) men’s and women's crosscountry teams finished in fourth place overall at the 2023 Peach Belt Championship (PBC) Oct. 21 at the University of North Georgia’s (UNG) Cross Country Course.

Laird named Zaxby's Player of the Week

Georgia College & State University men's cross country runner Daniel Laird has been named the Zaxby's Player of the Week ending Oct. 22. Laird, a freshman from Hoschton, Ga., competed in the 2023 Peach Belt Conference Championship Oct. 21 in Oakwood.

Baldwin High School hosted the charity First Responders Basketball Tournament Oct. 22. In an effort to provide support and hope to mothers who have tragically lost a child to violence, the First Responders Basketball Tournament was held at Baldwin High School.

Georgetown announces passing of head women’s basketball coach

Georgetown women’s basketball head coach and former Baldwin High School basketball player Tasha Butts passed away after a two-year battle with breast cancer, the school announced on Tuesday. Butts, 41, was a star basketball player, nationally recognized assistant coach and first-year head coach.

It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win as top-ranked Georgia defeated Vanderbilt 37-20 to improve to 7-0. The Commodores were 32-point underdogs entering Saturday and gave the heavily favored Bulldogs a run for their money, trailing by 10 points late in the game, but couldn’t pull off the upset.
