JMA dominates to secure 2nd-straight title

John Milledge Academy (JMA) wrapped up its second-straight GIAA AAA baseball state championship last Monday. The Trojans faced off against the Pinewood Patriots in a rematch of last year’s championship series, which JMA won in three games.

John Milledge had a three-game week and swept the competition in dominant fashion. The Trojans beat Tiftarea 9-1 in the first game of the week on Monday before coming back home to face First Prep Christian Academy on Senior Day last Tuesday.

Freshman Cohen Brooks (16) was among three JMA pitchers taking a turn on the mound last Tuesday against the Stratford Academy Eagles.

The Georgia College & State University (GCSU) baseball team (13-4, 10-5 PBC) lost its series 2-1 March 24-26, at Georgia Southwestern State University (GSSU, 16-10, 12-6 PBC). Game one of the series went to the Hurricanes, who got out to a 6-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning.

The John Milledge Academy football team was honored Monday at the state’s capital. The Trojans were honored for winning their fourth consecutive GIAA/GISA Class AAA state title. JMA head coach J.T. Wall thought it was a “cool experience” for his players and coaching staff.
