Braves beat Westside in region playoff opener

The Baldwin boys’ basketball team capped off a fantastic 2023-24 regular schedule last Tuesday with a 73-30 beatdown of Swainsboro, finishing the season an undefeated 12-0 in region play and 22-2 overall.

Bravettes start strong in region tourney

The Baldwin Bravettes concluded their regular season on Feb. 6, going 22-2 overall and undefeated at 12-0 in region play.

GMC prep appoints varsity football coach

Georgia Military College Preparatory School (GMC Prep) has selected offensive line Coach Major Gavin Tierce as the head varsity football coach.Tierce brings football experience spanning across the state of Georgia and culminating in his role as offensive line coach at GMC Prep this past season.

Walker scores 1,000th point but bigger goal remains

Baldwin’s Janaye Walker scored her 1,00th-point Jan. 30 in a 69-19 victory over Westside-Macon. A week later, the program honored Walker after the Bravettes topped Swainsboro in the regular season finale. Walker eclipsed the 1,000-point mark with a layup against Westside last week.

Baldwin boys finish 22-2; clinch region regular-season title

The Baldwin boys’ basketball team captured the Region 2 4A title last Tuesday with a comeback win at home over Macon’s Westside Seminoles.The Braves had a surprisingly slow start at home versus Westside, finding themselves down by double digits several times in the first half.

JMA hoops wins eight of last nine games

After a 4-5 start, John Milledge Academy (JMA) recently turned a corner and is now on a hot streak, winning eight of its last nine games since Jan. 5, including the last four in a row. JMA head coach Mitch Risley is happy to see his team peaking at the right time of the season.

Braves beat Bears in ‘nailbiter’ match

Baldwin boys’ basketball extended its win streak to six this past week with the team’s 19th win of the season. The Braves handed Spalding a crushing 86-32 loss at home last Tuesday before visiting region rival Griffin on Friday.

Walker, Neal lead Bravettes past Lowndes at MLK Classic

Baldwin’s Janaye Walker and Kassidy Neal each posted a double-double as Class 4A’s top-ranked Bravettes routed Lowndes at the Holy Innocents’ MLK Classic. The talented junior duo helped Baldwin defeat Class 7A’s Lady Vikings 75-50, marking their 10th victory in a row.
