2025 is in the books

As the new year begins, The Baldwin Bulletin takes an annual look back at some the significant people and events that shaped its weekly narrative. In this first edition of 2026, we reflect on January to May 2025, with the second half of the year to be recapped next week.

Gerald Wayne Hammock

Gerald Wayne Hammock, 80, of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025. Survivors include a son, David Hammock; daughters, Sheila McClain and Mary Woods, all of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Matt Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Noah McClain and Jacob Hammock.

On Dec. 16, law enforcement was dispatched to a theft in progress at Walmart. Walmart’s Asset Protection manager stated the male that the man fled in a red Camaro parked by the back door of the automotive section.

The Baldwin County Board of Commissioners discussed the Powell Building at Central State Hospital, the 2026 fee schedule, and the 2026 operating budget.The two-hour meeting opened with Billy Hargrove being recognized with a Certificate of Recognition for his 100th birthday.

Board of Education named 2025 Exemplary School Board

The Baldwin County Board of Education was named a 2025 Exemplary School Board by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA), the highest distinction awarded through GSBA’s Governance Team Recognition Program.
