New blood joins Milledgeville City Council

City Council was officially sworn Dec. 30 with three new council members taking office.Probate Judge Todd Blackwell led the ceremony, swearing in Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan, Dr. Collinda Lee, Arlene Simmons, Denese Shinholster, Morgan Pendergast, Shonya Mapp, and Dr. Jeffery Wells.

MPD intercepts contraband drop on New Years

 Officers and detectives with the Milledgeville Police Department successfully intercepted a contraband drop Jan. 1 intended for Baldwin State Prison.During the investigation, officers identified and intercepted a large drone being used to transport illegal contraband into the facility.

Georgia Power wins approval for massive increase in generation

State regulators granted Georgia Power the authority for an historic expansion of its capacity to generate electricity in a unanimous vote Friday.
