The Baldwin County Board of Commissioners has scheduled three public hearings for its proposed property tax increase, as required by state law.
In most years, budget hearings are sparsely attended and relatively uneventful. This year, however, the county government is announcing its 'intention to increase the 2026 property taxes it will levy this year by 95.27 percent over the rollback millage rate,' according to a press release.
All meetings will be held in the county commission chambers at the new government annex building near Carrington Woods. Here are the dates:
• Thursday, Sept. 17 – 6 p.m.
• Friday, Sept. 18 – 10 a.m.
• Friday, Sept. 25 – 10 a.m.
To its credit, the county commission does a solid job of streaming all meetings on its Facebook page.
