GMC Prep School named One Act State Champions

Georgia Military College Prep School is proud to announce that its One Act team, co-directed by Jenny Morris and Mark Weaver, was named the A-Division 2 State Champions Nov. 22, earning top honors at the state competition held in Harris County.

In addition, Jude Raburn received the Best Actor award, Bella Dixon received the Best Actress award, and Maddie Ryan and Luke Ivey received the All-Star Cast reward. Each of these individuals had stand-out performances.

This year’s production, “Beetlejuice the Musical,” captivated judges with its energy, creativity, and cast. After securing the Region 5A Division 2 championship on Oct. 30, the cast and crew dedicated the following weeks to refining their show, perfecting technical elements, and polishing their ensemble work in preparation for the state stage.

LTC Jenny Morris, GMC Prep Fine Arts Director, praised the students’ dedication and teamwork.

“Mark and I are so proud of these students.

Our cast and crew approached this show with an incredible amount of heart, discipline, and imagination. They embraced every challenge, pushed each other to be better, and represented GMC Prep with excellence on and off the stage. I could not be prouder of the leaders they have become throughout this process.”

GMC Prep School last competed in One Act in 2023, when they also brought home the state title. Since 2013, GMC Prep has earned seven state championships, solidifying its reputation as one of the leading performing arts programs in the state.
