It was the first non-domestic-related homicide in Milledgeville/ Baldwin County since 2023, and now more arrests have been made.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the CC Food Mart on North Jefferson Street, a “food store” located across the street from the Boddie Project/Graham Homes that features video gaming machines. An argument began inside the store between members of rival street gangs. The argument centered around a gang-related incident that occurred back in 2023, according to investigators. The argument then spilled out into the parking lot, where a gun was drawn, shots were fired and a man was rushed to the hospital.
The incident was captured on store security video, which led investigators to the Plantation Chase subdivision near Kroger, where 20-year-old Daquavious Omarion Napier was arrested without incident. Napier, who lost both of his parents in a murder-suicide when he was a toddler, lived with his grandparents in the subdivision. He is being charged with malice murder, participation in street gang activity, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, terroristic threats, as well as five counts of aggravated assault, one for every person who was present when the shooting occurred.
The victim was identified as Quantez Bolston, 19, who was taken off of life support and passed away the following day.
Later arrested was Omarion King, 21, who is being charged with aggravated assault, murder (party to a crime), malice murder (party to a crime) and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, as well as Tyrecus Harrison, 20, charged withmurder (party to a crime), malice murder (party to a crime) and aggravated assault (party to a crime).
The incident marked the first gang-related homicide in Milledgeville since 2021, which centered around an early-morning shootout at the old downtown Huddle House.
