• A criminal investigation was opened at the Georgia War Veterans Home after approximately a half-dozen veterans said their Social Security checks never arrived in the mail. Many of the checks, however, were at some point cashed at Walmart.

Trends in education come and go, and the “split campus” kindergarten through fifth grade model appears to be on the way out, at least here in Baldwin County.The School Board voted unanimously on Tuesday to merge Midway Hills Primary and Midway Hills Academy, essentially creating a K-5 school.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Midway Hills Academy last Wednesday following an incident in the school cafeteria.According to the incident report, an “11-year-old male student used his plastic lunch tray to strike a 10-year-old female student” two times.
