Say what you want about social media, but it sure has made local government more accessible.
Last week’s county commission meeting, for example, already has 9,100 views on Facebook. Now, the Baldwin County School District is getting in the game, announcing on Monday that it will begin livestreaming its monthly School Board meetings on its YouTube channel.
Tuesday’s School Board meeting marked the first on Youtube. There were some issues with the volume in the first few minutes of the meeting. Aside from that, the production value was relatively high.
“Families are incredibly busy, and this allows more people to have access to information, understand decision making that may be occurring, and celebrate student success even when they are unable to attend in person,” said Superintendent Kristina Brooks. “We are so very excited to begin this next step as we seek to improve the engagement of families and the community.”
School Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.
