Holiday on Hancock to open the holiday season

The annual First Friday Tree Lighting during Holiday on Hancock will kick off the holiday season at 6 p.m. Dec.5, rain or shine.All patrons are encouraged to enjoy the event as Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan lights up the tree, donated and decorated by Fowler Flemister and Custom Signs and Designs.

Georgia Power (GP) and the Atlanta Falcons have teamed up to spread holiday spirit through Georgia Power’s Light Up the Holidays Contest. From now until Dec. 12, customers are invited to share how they’re “lighting up the holidays,” either with festive decorations or acts of community service.

1-800 Water Damage expands into Putnam County

The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce welcomed another local business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 12 for 1-800 Water Damage of Central Georgia, based in Milledgeville (101 Chase Ct., Ste. B).

Annual Holiday Giving Market returns

The 2nd annual Milledgeville Holiday Giving Market will be held Friday, Dec. 5th from 6-8 p.m. at Allen's Market in downtown Milledgeville.During this season of giving, the public will be able to shop for symbolic gifts that will support non-profit organizations active in middle Georgia.

GCSU students start battery recycling campaign

A team of five Georgia College & State University students organized a two-week battery recycling competition from Nov. 3-13 at Midway Hills Academy.The students were all part of a campaign capstone class taught by Dr. Mengyao Xu.

‘Season of Joy’ at Georgia College: Decking the Halls with Dr. Whipple

Dr. Harriett Whipple, professor emerita, has been decorating Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion since the early 1980s. She used to help Sue Speir, wife of Georgia College & State University past President Edwin Speir Jr., decorate back when the mansion was still used as the president’s residence.

Allied Arts Quilt Challenge inspires seasonal excitement
