Milledgeville to host Hanukkah Menorah lighting

The Milledgeville community will continue embracing a tradition Dec. 25 that began in 2020. To recognize the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, a menorah has been installed on West Hancock Street in the plaza in front of The Local Yolkal Cafe.

Christmas comes to the Brown-Stetson-Sanford House

Georgia’s Old Capital Heritage Center at The Depot, Inc. (GOCHC) opened the doors to the 1825 Brown-Stetson-Sanford House Dec. 9 to allow community members to take a peek at what Chrimas once looked like in the historic home.

The annual First Friday Tree Lighting will occur at 6 p.m., Dec. 6, rain or shine.All patrons are encouraged to enjoy the event as Mayor Mary Parham Copelan showcases a glowing downtown as the tree, donated and decorated by Fowler Flemister and Custom Signs and Designs, is lit up.

Lake Oconee Elks visit GWVH

On Nov. 26, Lake Oconee Elks Lodge members visited the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville for a decorating, pizza, and donut party with the veterans. Lodge members enjoyed decorating the recreation room and serving veterans pizza and donuts.
