‘The Color Purple’ to return to The Plaza

A musical version of “The Color Purple,” based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Eatonton native Alice Walker, completed a five-show run Sunday afternoon, playing to nearsold- out crowds for each performance at The Plaza Arts Center in downtown Eatonton.

In March of 1825, the residents of Milledgeville paused to celebrate the birth of the nation and welcome Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier de la Lafayette, the last surviving major-general of the America Revolution.

Lake Oconee Elks visit veterans in Milledgeville

Lake Oconee Elks (LOE) Lodge volunteers visited the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville Feb. 25, to treat resident veterans there to a catered lunch from Ms Stellas of Milledgeville.Nearly 40 veterans and 10 staff members enjoyed fried chicken with all the sides that go along with the meal.

After a year of planning Allied Arts hosted Milledgeville's first Arti Gras festival Feb. 21 in Allen’s Market.Arti Gras was a free event that brought together local musicians, painters and families.
