More info: Please join Bike Walk Baldwin Saturday April 30th, 2022 as we celebrate the 16th annual April Fools Ride! Featuring a variety of routes, climb and fun, there is a great ride option for everyone! This year, choose from scenic 31, 63, and 80 mile routes and enjoy 3 fully provisioned rest stops (80 mile route hits 1 stop twice) and SAG support. For this year’s after ride meal, each rider will receive a $5 Milly Money lunch voucher to use in downtown Milledgeville and choose from many great restaurants! Registration ride pricing includes ride t-shirt, SAG and a $5 Milly Money lunch voucher: $30 for Friends of Bike Walk Baldwin* & students, $40 for all others.

More info: Enjoy live music on the front campus of Georgia College from the University’s own Jazz Band as well as other featured artists including Marshall Gilkes, guest trombonist. Bring a picnic basket and blanket and sit out under the stars while listening to the sounds of classical and contemporary music! Join friends of music and enjoy the sounds of JazzFest with director Cliff Towner.

SUNDAY, APRIL 30 What: Oconee Outfitters Explore Series

When: Shuttling 8 a.m. or driving 9 a.m.

Where: 112 North Wayne Street

More info: If you are tired of kayaking the same stretch of river again and again, the Explorer Series is for you! It’s a series of guided trips that aim to explore different sections of the Oconee River, as well as some of the other waterways of central Georgia. The first trip will be Saturday, April 30, putting in at Balls Ferry State Park and ending at Johnson County Landing, a trip of approximately 8 miles. Participants should pack food and drinks to be out for around 5 hours. To learn more call 478-452-3890.

More info: Georgia Military presents Anastasia the musical. The musical is about the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, who could have escaped the execution of her family. Years later, an amnesiac orphan named Anya hopes to find some trace of her family by siding with two con men who wish to take advantage of her likeness to the Grand Duchess. This play is based on a 1997 film and is packed with adventure and music.

More info: First Fridays are a monthly fun & festive event with live music, face painting, and activities for the young as well as young at heart. Participating First Fridays merchants, restaurants, cultural venues and nightlife hotspots stay open late, present special events, and offer discounts on the first Friday of every month making downtown Milledgeville an ideal destination for an evening out. Milledgeville Main Street works with merchants to organize and promote First Friday.

What: Garden Club of Georgia Historic Landscape Preservation Tour, Luncheon, Lecture

More info: On Saturday, May 14, Lockerly is very excited to host the Historic Landscapes Programs annual fundraiser. The event will be from 10am to 2pm and will feature tours of Rose Hill and the grounds. Tickets include a tour of Historic Rose Hill and keynote speaker, Milledgeville’s own Jon Jackson of Comfort Farms. We are especially excited that lunch will be prepared by Jon. The mission of Comfort Farms is to promote a structured, holistic approach for displaced veterans suffering from PTSD and other invisible disabilities, aiding their reintegration into family, society and economy. This event is open to the public! Tickets are $40 per person and you can register online.

What: GDOE 10th District Public Hearing

Where: Putnam County High School, 300 War Eagle Dr., Eatonton

More Info: State Bd of Education member Dr. Stanley DeJarnett will hold a public hearing for citizens of Baldwin, Greene, Morgan, Putnam, Taliaferro, Barrow, Butts, Glascock, Hancock, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Walton, Warren, Washington and WIlkes counties. The purpose of the hearing is to hear comments from interested citizens and educators within the congressional district regarding K-12 education. THose wishing to speak should sign in upon arrival. Take home up to 5 fish per child.

More info: This annual event consists of two main events: Plein Air Painting Workshops and a Paint Out Contest with cash prizes. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Registration for the Paint Out is $20. Please be sure to read the full rules and regulations. Artists must begin painting at or after 1:00 p.m. the day of the event and submit the painting to event organizers by 5:00 p.m. Artists should paint outdoors within one mile of the registration location at The Artisans Village Art Gallery.
