Bobcat volleyball has best start in program history

The Georgia College & State University volleyball team improved to a perfect 8-0 on the season, which is the longest win streak in program history.

The GMC Prep Bulldogs (0-4) suffered another tough loss last Friday, falling 47-14 while hosting the Washington-Wilkes Tigers (2-1) at Davenport Field.

Baldwin’s first loss came last Friday night to defending Class 5A state champion Ware County. The Gators defeated the Braves 48-20 in Waycross. Baldwin hosted Ware County last season and lost 41-3 to the eventual state champs, which went 14-0 in 2022.

GMC Prep drops third straight to start season

Georgia Military Prep lost its third straight game of the season by a 28-13 decision. The Bulldogs were visiting the Brentwood War Eagles in Sandersville, where they played a close first half, but were overwhelmed after halftime.

Bulldogs bounce back from slow start to beat UT-Martin

Top-ranked Georgia’s season-opening 48-7 victory over UT-Martin on Saturday had its highs and lows. The Bulldogs struggled out of the gate offensively but overcame the slow start to put up 41 points, with their final touchdown coming from the defense on a pick-six late in the fourth quarter.

Georgia prepares for Ball State

Georgia (1-0) will host Ball State (0-1) for its second game of the 2023 season on Saturday. The Bulldogs come off a 48-7 win over UT-Martin while the Cardinals lost to Kentucky 44-14 on the opening weekend of the season.

Bulldogs to host UT-Martin in season opener

Defending back-toback national champion and top-ranked Georgia will open up its season on Saturday. The Bulldogs will host FCS UT-Martin between the hedges at Sanford Stadium in each team’s opener. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have a lot of respect for the back-to-back OVC champs.

Trojans dominate Canton Academy in invitational

The John Milledge Academy (JMA) Trojans traveled to Columbus last Saturday to play in the SECIS Invitational hosted by Brookstone Academy. The Trojans also competed last season in the SECIS tournament and won 48-7 over Lamar High School from Meridian, Miss.
