The John Milledge Academy (JMA) Trojans baseball team had a very strong bounce back from their only loss of the season so far against Strong Rock Christian.
The Trojans have gone 3-0 since the loss, improving their record to 5-1.
“The main thing has been just getting back to the basics,” JMA head coach Tucker Bradley said. “We have stopped looking at so much mechanics in the box and just worrying about how we’re competing and if we’re on time in the box. I’ve been super proud of how the guys have responded after getting beat that bad, but it’s still just the beginning. We have a long way to go.”
The Trojans offensive improvements have been noticeable in JMA’s two wins over Vidalia Heritage and Brentwood last week. The Trojans beat VHA 8-1 and 6-3 followed by a 12-3 win over Brentwood in Sandersville last Thursday. JMA had seven hits and 11 walks vs. the Eagles and a team total of nine RBIs.
Asa Wall has been the Trojans’ biggest threat at the plate, batting .556 with a .652 on base percentage after getting two hits vs VHA March 6, along with four RBIs and two hits against VHA again four days later. He also had three hits and two RBIs vs. Brentwood March 12.
The Trojans’ pitching has continued to impress, too, allowing just seven runs over three wins last week.
“Pitching staff has been solid all year outside of that one outlier. We’ve had quality starts from both Lewis Cheney and Graysen Paradise, and Gus Cummings came on strong last week earning more starts in the future,” Bradley said.
The Trojans travel to Heritage in Newnan on Thursday before returning home to complete a back-to-back against Heritage at 4 p.m. Friday.
