GCSU: Bobcats sweep Middle Georgia for fi rst conference win

College & State University volleyball earned its first Peach Belt Conference victory and first sweep of the season Tuesday (Sept. 29), defeating Middle Georgia State University 3-0 at the Volleyball Gymnasium.

The Bobcats improved to 4-14 overall and 1-3 in Peach Belt Conference play, while the Knights fell to 2-15 overall and 0-4 in conference action.

GCSU controlled the match from the start, taking the opening set 25-18 before earning another 25-18 victory in the second. The Bobcats saved their strongest offensive performance for the third set, hitting .324 with 15 kills and just four errors to close out the sweep with a 25-20 win.

Kendra Leboehi led the Bobcats offensively with 11 kills, followed by Emersyn Mullvain with seven and Nya Warren with five. Ile Bernis distributed 13 assists, while Lexi Baum added 10.

GCSU made its presence felt at the net with 11 total blocks. Mullvain led the way with nine blocks, followed by Leboehi with five and Warren with two.

Liv Diaz led the defensive effort with 15 digs, while Baum collected 11 and Avery Huyck added nine. Haley Mendoza recorded two service aces, with Finley Burns and Miki Parrott adding one apiece.

GCSU returns to action Saturday (Oct. 3) against Flagler College at 1 p.m.
