The John Milledge Academy (JMA) Trojans baseball team continued to slide in the region rankings last week after a pair of losses to Tatnall Square Academy (TSA).
Last Monday the Trojans trounced non-region opponent Westminster Christian Academy 11-1 in Milledgeville with 15 hits, 11 RBIs and four walks.
The win was followed by a 6-1 loss at home last Tuesday to TSA.
The Trojans hoped to bounce back on Thursday but again lost to TSA in a 3-1 decision in Macon.
In both losses the Trojans struggled at the plate, getting only three hits in game one and five hits and 11 offensive strikeouts in game two. The pitching staff combined to surrender 10 hits and five walks in game one vs. TSA but adjustments were made by Thursday and JMA starting pitcher Gus Cummings pitched a complete game and allowed just three hits and two earned runs over six innings.
Trojans head coach Tucker Bradley said his team just needs to get back to playing hard.
“We played two good ball games against a great Tatnall club, so nothing to stress over, just keep playing,” Bradley said.
The Trojans returned to region play this week with a home game on Tuesday vs. Mount de Sales (MDS) and a road game in Macon vs. MDS on Thursday. The Cavaliers have struggled in 2026 and are winless in region play with an 0-6 record. The Trojans hope to get things going back in the right direction against MDS and Bradley says a pair of wins would do more than just improve the Trojans record.
“It’s important, but not just for region,” Bradley said. “We need to create some positive momentum heading into the playoffs, so we need to see things start to come together.”
Bradley added that his players must bring the energy in the dugout and on the field if they are going to find success.
“Energy and focus from all 20 guys,” Bradley said. “Whether they’re playing or not, they have a role and it needs to be executed.”
