Trojans fall to region foe

The John Milledge Academy (JMA) Trojans baseball team struggled with region foe Stratford Academy last week, suffering 12-6 and 13-1 losses.

The Trojans dropped game one on the road in Macon last Monday and then things got worse at home Tuesday. But head coach Tucker Bradley insisted he’s not worried about how good his team is after such a rough week.

“Just keep playing our game,” Bradley said. “Two losses to a very good Stratford team is nothing to stress over yet, just gotta keep playing our game.”

The Trojans’ biggest struggle was keeping the Eagles’ hottest hitter, Bobby Wooten, from hitting baseballs over the fence in Milledgeville. Wooten finished his afternoon last Tuesday with three home runs, seven RBIs, and one walk.

The Trojans have enjoyed a well deserved eight days off since last Tuesday and will travel this Thursday to face the Tallulah Falls Indians in an afternoon double-header. Bradley said he expects the time off will help his team get back in the win column.

“I believe (time off) can help,” Bradley said. “Having a couple of days away from the diamond can be helpful but we need to be ready come Thursday.”

The Trojans will be back at home this Saturday for a 2 p.m. start against region foe Piedmont in the last of a three-game season series.
