GMC Prep’s Ayden Hamm named to All-State roster

Following a successful season on the mound for the Georgia Military Prep (GMCP) baseball team, senior Ayden Hamm was named a GHSA A DII thirdteam All-State member. Hamm was a vital piece of the Bulldogs’ 2026 squad, leading GMCP to its first region title since 2009.

Hamm’s performance at home early in April against Johnson County was among his best. He pitched six innings and struck out eight batters while allowing just five hits and two earned runs to help the Bulldogs defeat the Trojans and clinch the Region 5 title.

Hamm also led the Bulldogs to their only playoff win in the second game of an April 22 doubleheader. He gave a 7.2-inning performance, striking out 15 batters and walking three, while allowing four hits and three runs in a 4-3 extra-innings win at Craig Field in Milledgeville.

GMCP head baseball coach Kyle Redmond later spoke on the senior starting pitcher’s high school career.

“Man, he is just a dog,” Redmond said of Hamm in the postseason. “And he has been a dog all three years I’ve been head coach. What he accomplished on the mound those three years is incredible, but he took it up a notch this year.

“In his performance [April 22], it felt like he was unhittable. He just made one mistake that cost him three runs, but I’m glad we were able to win the game for him,” Redmond added.

“Fifteen Ks in a game is unreal. It’s a shame that we can’t find a college that will offer him a baseball scholarship. Every time Ayden pitches, the opposing coach asks me where he’s going to pitch in college, so they know he’s good enough. In today’s world, results are less important than measurables, and that’s a shame, because Ayden has the results.”

Hamm struck out 85 batters in 2026 while allowing only 19 earned runs. He finished the season with a 5-3 record in his 10 qualifying starts.

Other Bulldogs receiving postseason honors were Chase McCrary, named Region 5 Player of the Year after reaching base 55 times on 33 hits, 11 walks, and 11 HBPs.

Additionally, Lantz Holton, Noah Goddard, Seth Ussery, and Riley Woods were each named to the Region 5 firstteam, All-Region team, with Hunter Langford also added as an honorable mention to the All-Region squad.
