GMC Prep Bulldogs drop two on the road

It was a challenging week for the Georgia Military Prep (GMCP) Bulldogs, who went 1-2 in their second week of the 2026 baseball season. The Bulldogs’ week started well with a 10-7 win at home over Brentwood last Tuesday night but a pair of road losses to Crawford County and Mount de Sales on Wednesday and Friday ensued, dropping the Bulldogs overall record to 3-4.

The Bulldogs’ matchup at home against the Academy for Classical Education (ACE) was postponed to this Friday after rain caused unplayable field conditions last Saturday in Milledgeville. But head coach Kyle Redmond remains confident in his team and believes that the Bulldogs will continue to make the necessary adjustments to get back in the win column.

“We controlled both games until it got down to the end.” Redmond said. “We played very well in both games, but (we) didn’t finish. I still feel like we are in a good spot with how we are playing overall, but we just need to learn how to close a game out. Both teams we lost to this week are good teams that we outplayed five to six innings, but at the end of the day, it’s the scoreboard that matters and we came up on the short end.”

Redmond also praised his pitching staff, stating that he expects they will continue to thrive.

“Our pitching has been tremendous, and I expect that to continue.” Redmond said. “Our bats right now are cold, but the guys on this team are veterans and they will start hitting eventually. When that happens, we will be tough to beat.”

GMCP’s bats did improve last week as the Bulldogs avoided being shutout in all three games and had at least six hits in each game. They had seven hits in their 10-7 win at home over Brentwood last Tuesday, followed by another seven-hit game at Crawford County last Wednesday and in their final game of the week GMCP had six knocks and five runs in a 6-5 loss to Mount de Sales.

The Bulldogs pitchers had a combined 11 strikeouts vs Brentwood last Tuesday night with Noah Goddard pitching five innings, striking out six batters, and allowing eight hits and three earned runs, but four unearned runs.

Relief pitchers Matthew Webester and Ayden Hamm allowed zero hits and combined to strikeout five Eagles and walked just two more to close out the Bulldogs 10-7 win.

Ayden Hamm started the following night at Crawford County and had a terrific night, allowing just one hit in a complete game of 6.1 innings pitched. Hamm did however allow one earned run, but three total runs scored and three batters were walked to give the Eagles the 3-2 win.

On Friday night at Mount de Sales, Riley Marcott started on the mound for the Bulldogs and pitched 5.1 innings and struck out five Cavaliers but allowed four runs and seven hits. Chase McCrary came in relief of Marcott and allowed two
