GCSU’s Rigsbee named POW – twice

Georgia College & State University (GCSU) men's basketball player Brendan Rigsbee nabbed a pair of Player of the Week honors Monday (Nov. 20).

The redshirt sophomore guard from Suwanee was named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the Peach Belt Conference and also was named the GCSU Zaxby's Player of the Week.

Rigsbee tied his career high with 25 points in a 97-92 road win on Nov. 17 over Saint Leo University on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor to go along with six rebounds, three blocks, and three assists. He added 14 points with six rebounds, five assists and two steals the next night in GCSU's 86-80 triumph over the University of Tampa.

Rigsbee averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in a pair of road wins for the Bobcats last week, who improved to 4-0 on the season. He is currently ranked 14th in the PBC in scoring (16.3), 10th in rebounding (7.0), seventh in assists (3.8), 11th in blocks (1.0), and 18th in field goal percentage (.455).

After an 11-game stretch on the road to start the season, the GCSU men’s basketball team will first play at home in an afternoon game Jan. 6 vs. USC Aiken at the Centennial Center in Milledgeville.
