It’s only September, but Georgia Military College’s national title hopes were on the line last Saturday in Texas.
In the end, the Dawgs came back home to Georgia with a massive 28-14 win over old foe Navarro. GMC trailed 14-7 entering the fourth quarter before rattling off three unanswered touchdowns and earning the victory.
The Dawgs jumped to fourth in the latest NJCAA Top 25 poll. The top four teams in the final poll of the regular season advance to a four-team national championship playoff.
GMC now has a bye week before returning to action Sept. 26 at Davenport Field against the Utah Islanders, which on the surface seems like a really nonsensical mascot for a team from Utah.
The toughest stretch of the schedule certainly appears to be over. After the Utah Islanders matchup is a home game against Community Christian, which GMC defeated 94-0 last season.
