The Georgia Military Prep (GMCP) Bulldogs extended their region win streak to 4-0 with a pair of wins over the Georgia School for Innovation and Classics (GSIC). The Bulldogs defeated the Patriots with a 19-13 road win in Hephzibah last Tuesday and an 8-1 win at home in Milledgeville the following day.
“It feels good to be sitting 4-0 in region right now. Our guys are playing well,” Bulldogs head coach Kyle Redmond said. “We had some mental lapses at times against GSIC, but those are things we can easily correct. We’ve outscored our region opponents 71-25 so far, so our bats are coming alive.
“We have a huge week coming with a good Glascock team this week. We would love to start 6-0 in region. That would be huge. Our guys are believing right now and that goes a long way.”
A major part of the Bulldogs’ success has been their ace starting pitcher Ayden Hamm. Hamm has a 1.93 ERA with 42 strikeouts and 16 hits allowed and 19 runs through seven appearances. In the Bulldogs second game vs. GSIC in Milledgeville Hamm pitched a complete seven-inning game striking out 11 Patriots and allowed just two walks, four hits and one run in the Bulldogs’ 8-1 win.
“Ayden has been a dog since I took over as head coach during his sophomore year (2024). He has been the guy that you could count on when we needed a big performance on the mound,” Redmond said. “He’s made all-region both his sophomore and junior years, and I think he has a chance to be the region pitcher of they year this year if he keeps pitching the way he’s been pitching. I’ve had several opposing coaches this year that they will be glad to see him gone after this year because he’s been so tough to hit against. He just has an edge to him that I love. We are certainly going to miss him, but I’m definitely going to enjoy having him the rest of this season.”
Ther Bulldogs continue their season with back-to-back home games on Tuesday and Wednesday vs region foe Glascock County (4-5, 4-0) and non-region opponent Dublin (11-3, 8-0). First pitch time for both games is set for 5:30 p.m. at Craig Field in Milledgeville. The Bulldogs wrap up their week on the road at Glascock County on Friday.
