>> MILLEDGEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Milledgeville Police Department, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Alcohol and Tobacco Division, recently conducted an underage alcohol compliance check within the City of Milledgeville. During the operation, 19 businesses were checked, and seven of those were found to be in violation after selling alcohol to an underage person working on behalf of law enforcement.

Chief Dray Swicord addressed the results of the operation, stating, “We regularly have issues with businesses selling to underage patrons, particularly college-aged young adults.

We are committed to ensuring that all persons who purchase alcohol within the City of Milledgeville are of legal age.

Our message to the alcohol license holders in the city is simple: ‘Check IDs. Don’t sell to anyone under 21.’ We hope that this operation helps make that message clear.”

The following businesses sold alcohol to an underage operative and have been cited for furnishing alcohol to a person under 21:
