Frequent shoplifter caught again
On Nov. 5 law enforcement met with the Asset Protection Manager of Walmart in reference to a shoplifting.
On Oct. 26, Yasmin Andrews was at a self-checkout machine failing to scan approximately $173 of miscellaneous items. Andrews was seen scanning a few items but others she was placing into bags without paying for them and after she paid for the few items she did scan, she grabbed all the items, both paid and unpaid for, and exited the business, subsequently passing the final point of sale with the items. Due to Andrews already appearing in court for a similar shoplifting case, the case will be addressed in court.
Woman shoplifts drink
On Nov. 5, law enforcement was dispatched to The Market, 821 N.
Columbia S., in reference to shoplifting.
Carol Pennamon stole a Four Loko ($3.39). She stuck it in the rear of her pants while another male distracted from the front desk clerk, and she left the location. An employee stated he walked outside to confront her, and she returned it by placing it down on the wall outside. Pennamon admitted to stealing the beverage and stated she gave it back.
Pennamon was cited for shoplifting first offense.
Shoplifter gets away with hair product
On Nov. 6, law enforcement was dispatched to the Beauty Queen 98 Cent Store, at 1810 N. Columbia St., in reference to shoplifting. An unknown female wearing all black stole two containers of hair dye worth $14. Upon reviewing video footage, the female was seen exiting an older model white Ford Mustang with what appears to be a gray hood. The female then enters the store, walks to the hair dye and removes the containers of hair dye from their boxes. One of the containers of hair dye was seen falling on the floor before the female picked it up and put it in her pocket. The female later exits the store without paying for the merchandise, gets back into the vehicle and leaves the area.
Drunk driver obstructs police
On Nov. 6, an officer was sitting at the intersection of State Route 22 East and Roberson Mill Road when he observed a motor vehicle accident. A 2006 bronze Nissan Maxima was traveling southbound on North Glynn Street after he had signaled the vehicle to pull over. A sergeant was in the area and observed the vehicle pass him. The sergeant pulled the driver over at the intersection of Ernest Byner Street and West Charlton Street. Layto Hill fought him upon being stopped before he was eventually taken into custody. Hill verbally and voluntarily agreed to the state administered test of his breath. In conclusion of the test, Hill blew a 0.195. Hill was charged with failure to stop/report an accident, driving while license suspended, DUI child endangerment, driving under the influence, and obstruction of law enforcement.
Man caught with five ounces of marijuana
On Nov. 6, while traveling north on North Columbia Street, law enforcement observed a dark-colored minivan fail to stop at the stop sign as it entered North Columbia from Sportsman Club Drive.
The officer stopped the car at a Texaco gas station located at 3041 N. Columbia St. The driver, John Hood, failed to stop at the stop sign and had expired registration on the vehicle. Hood admitted there was possibly a marijuana 'roach' in the center console area, after being informed of the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. In the center console area, the officer located a red bag containing four individual clear plastic bags filled with a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana. It was an unofficial initial weight of approximately 130 grams (approximately four to five ounces). Hood admitted he had approximately five to six ounces of marijuana in the vehicle for personal use. Hood was charged with VGCSA - possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
