Criminal caught with counterfeit money for gambling
On Sept. 8, a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant received a tip that Calvin Goddard was at Jet 6.
Goddard had outstanding warrants at the time of this incident. Goddard was at the gambling machines as the officer entered the store. He was taken into custody without incident. While searching Goddard before placing him in the rear of a patrol car, deputies located 37 five-dollar counterfeit bills in his left front pant’s pocket.
They also located three clear plastic bags containing a white substance suspected to be methamphetamine in the right coin pocket of Goddard's pants. Goddard was also holding in his hands, a $1 bill, a $10 bill, and a $5 counterfeit bill. Goddard told police that a “buddy ordered them.” It appeared that Goddard had been using the counterfeit money in the gambling machine, with intent to defraud the Jet Food store.
Warrants for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and forgery in the first degree were sworn against Goddard.
Man litters and threatens officer
On Sept. 13, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a brown 2009 Ford pickup truck for throwing trash at a patrol vehicle. Prior to the traffic stop, the officer was stopped at the intersection of Georgia Highway 22 facing southbound attempting to cross over to head southbound on North Glynn Street. Due to the traffic signal being red, the officer came to a complete stop in the inside lane. The Ford Pickup truck stopped in the outside lane of the left turning lane, attempting to turn onto Roberson Mill Road to head eastbound. The driver, Kenneth Youngblood, began throwing away a Bojangles box and other trash items out of the passenger window. When the officer activated their lights and the traffic signal turned green, Youngblood accelerated. Youngblood came to a complete stop in the parking lot of Marathon, at 210 Roberson Mill Rd., and refused to comply with commands of keeping his hands on the steering wheel. During the interaction with Youngblood, the officer observed his eyes watery, speech slurred, and an open bottle of Canadian Mist in the center console area. Due to the signs of impairment, an officer arrived to conduct field sobriety tests that Youngblood denied. During the ride to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center, Youngblood was using vulgar language and continued to make threats toward the officer. A citation for littering in public, driving with a suspended license, DUI refusal, and open container were issued. Youngblood was given a warning for the terroristic threats he made.
Masked individuals break into cars
On Sept. 16, law enforcement was dispatched to Waterford Apartments, at 131 N. Pickens St., in reference to suspicious persons. Two males were seen pulling on car doors, attempting to gain entry. Four cars were reported to be rummaged through. There were also reports of several subjects with masks pulling on car doors at the Boulevard Apartments on West Thomas Street. As of the newspaper’s deadline, there was no one arrested from any of the reports.
