Last month, the community commemorated the 12th annual Christmas in Coopers event, which was a grand success.
The day started with parade participants gathering in a circle and joining hands for prayer led by Rev. Napoleon Clemmons. The parade consisted of floats decorated with holiday cheer, cars and trucks, motorcyclists from the Milledgeville Cruisers and the Black Stallions of Macon, fire trucks, police cars, the Mustangs drill team from Midway Hills Academy, the Hancock County Band, and cartoon characters featuring Mr. Grinch and Santa Claus. T’s Boutique graced many children with toys, including bicycles, as they went along the parade route.
The dignitaries that participated were Grand Marshal Sheriff Bill Massee and Baldwin County Commissioners Kendrick Butts, Emily Davis and Sammy Hall.
After the parade, the Midway Hills’ Mustangs and The Hancock County Band performed before lighting the tree. Bishop T, from Bible Revival Church, gave us a prayer. Then the countdown began, and the tree was lit. Spectators sang a few carols and enjoyed listening to Christmas music while visiting vendors.
Many spectators said that this event felt like an “old-fashioned Christmas where Jesus is the reason for the season.” Many thanks to our parade participants as well as our supporters and the committee members for a successful event. We cannot wait for this year’s planning to begin.
