County runoff elections coming Tuesday

Two Baldwin County Commission races will be decided next week, as voters in Districts 4 and 5 will vote on who will represent them, as of January 2025.

Incumbent Board Chairman Johnny Westmoreland will square off Tuesday for the District 4 seat against challenger Scott Little, while Jay Wright and Andrew Strickland are vying for the District 5 post being vacated by Henry Craig.

Little polled nearly 49% of the votes in the May 21 Republican Primary, while Westmoreland had 33% and Pam Peacock just over eight percent. Wright outpolled Strickland by 55 votes, 502-447, while Carol Ballew forced the runoff with 253.

No Democrats qualified for the two seats.

Early voting will continue through this Friday until 5 p.m. at the Government Building on North Columbia Street.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, but not all voting precincts will be used. In District 4, the City Hall Annex, East Baldwin, North Baldwin, North Milledgeville, and Scottsboro polling places are available.

In District 5, Meriwether, North Baldwin, North Milledgeville, South Milledgeville, West Baldwin, and West Thomas will be open.

A photo ID is required at all locations to cast a ballot.
