Spend quality time together working to develop skills on the mat that will help with emotional regulation, impulse control, stress management, body awareness, and confidence off the mat. While children of all ages are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult, the class is designed primarily with toddlers through early elementary school in mind. $15 for child/parent; $25 for two children and one adult.

What: Fast Fading: A History of Central State Hospital When: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Where: 95 Depot Circle More info: Georgia’s Old Capital Heritage Center at the Depot is thrilled to invite everyone to the grand opening of the new exhibit “Fast Fading, a History of Central State Hospital.” Only made possible through the efforts of local photographer, historian, and now museum curator, Jessica Whitehead. This will be the first exhibit to open at the new location on the Central State Hospital campus. Tickets are $10 per person.

What: Kids Fishing Event When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where: Lockerly Abortetum (Hwy 441 South, 1534 Irwinton Rd.) More info: Grab the kids to go fishing! Over 1,000 catfish have been stocked in Lockerly’s pond. Some are big and are waiting for you to catch them. For children ages 16 and under. One adult per two children. Lockerly provides hotdogs for bait, but you can bring worms if you prefer. Bring your own rods, reels, tackle, stringer or bucket. Take home up to 5 fish per child!

Kids’ University’s first week of camp will start May 28 and will span nine weeks ending July 26. Camp days last 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.. What: Makin’ Music Camp More info: Price: $200. Open to musicians of all levels ages 13+, this program gives campers an opportunity to express themselves through songwriting. Throughout the week, campers will work with music therapy staff and students to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use professional audio equipment and programs. What: Jasper Jubilee When: 8 a.m. start Where: Downtown Monticello More Info: The Jasper Jubilee, an event previously held in Monticello from the late 1980s into the ‘90s, has been resurrected this year by a group called Bridging Monticello. The day will begin with a fun run, which entrants can still sign up for on Saturday from 7-7:30 a.m. if not pre-registered. Entry is $30 and includes a t-shirt, while supplies last. Later, enjoy relay races, a cornhole tournament, cake walk, ring toss, duck pond, hot dog-eating contest, and a dog extravaganza. Many local businesses will be offering Jubilee specials and several local political candidates are expected to attend.

Main St., Greensboro More Info: A special service celebrating the anniversary of the First General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church held in the U.S. in 1789. The celebration includes a pageantry of bagpipes and drums during the processional, along with flags, honored guests, a special banner with a sampling of Scottish tartans, and a “Kirkin’ of the Tartans” prayer and blessing. After the service, all are invited to stay and enjoy more glorious bagpipe music, a flavorful fried chicken dinner, and some traditional Scottish folk songs.
