More info: Admiral Michael Glenn Mullen (USN, Ret.) will offer a keynote address at the NewDay USA Center of Leadership at Georgia Military College (GMC) as part of the facility’s inaugural speaker series designed to educate and inspire the next generation of leaders. This event presents an opportunity for the community and members of the media to preview the state-of-the-art, 28,937-square-foot NewDay USA Center of Leadership, which broke ground in 2021.

Where: Huff’s Market, 488 Ga. Hwy. 49, Milledgeville More info: Teach your smallest aspiring yogis the gift of their bodies through imaginative and fun poses and breathing techniques. Spend quality time together working to develop skills on the mat that will help with emotional regulation, impulse control, stress management, body awareness, and confidence off the mat. While children of all ages are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult, the class is designed primarily with toddlers through early elementary school in mind. $15 for child/parent; $25 for two children and one adult.

More info: Grab the kids to go fishing! Over 1,000 catfish have been stocked in Lockerly’s pond. Some are big and are waiting for you to catch them. For children ages 16 and under. One adult per two children. Lockerly provides hotdogs for bait, but you can bring worms if you prefer. Bring your own rods, reels, tackle, stringer or bucket. Take home up to 5 fish per child!

Info: Georgia College & State University’s resident kids’ summer camp is back in full swing starting this May. Kids’ University’s first week of camp will start May 28 and will span nine weeks ending July 26. Camp days last 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m..

What: Makin’ Music Camp Price: $200 More info: Open to musicians of all levels ages 13+, this program will give campers the opportunity to express themselves through songwriting. Throughout the week, campers will work with music therapy staff and students to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use professional audio equipment and programs. Thomas, Jr., fellow of the Society of Georgia Archivists, who will talk about “Climbing the Family Tree.” Ken is the recipient of the Governor’s Award in the Humanities (2003), the Sarah Turner Butler Heritage Award from the Historic Columbus Foundation (2008), and the Georgia Historical Society’s John McPherson Berrien Lifetime Achievement Award (2013), among several others.
