Milledgeville Main Street has done it again with this month’s First Friday: Flannel & Food Trucks event.
Locals old and young dressed in their best flannel and winter clothing to enjoy various activities including live music from Local Folk Band, axe throwing, a blacksmithing demo, chainsaw carving, and more.
Milledgeville’s very own cryptid, Bigfoot Billy, was wandering throughout downtown taking pictures with attendees and visiting the local vendors.
Downtown Milledgeville was also full of food trucks, which everyone took full advantage of. Anywhere from seafood, Mexican, southern comfort, sweet treats, and drinks were available. El Amigo, Southern Dawgs Catering, Dvereaux’s Crab Shack, Saucy Saucy, Glo’s Thighs and Pies, Agave Azul, and several other vendors were lined up and down the street for business.
Downtown bars and restaurants were also open during the event providing special First Friday cups for customers to enjoy drinks with.
One of the many local vendors, Haley’s Treats, was a hit with customers lining up throughout the night for some sweet desserts.
“I’ve been doing this since the summertime, but I’ve been baking since I was little,” said Haley English, owner of Haley’s Treats.
English bakes all of her products from home, selling them herself and at events like First Friday. Her dream is to open up a bakery downtown to sell her products to as many people as possible. She participated in a baking competition at Milledgeville’s Deep Roots Festival back in October and won a golden ticket to Texas for a competition out west.
Events like First Friday allow businesses like Haley’s Treats to show off their hard work and get the community involved in their journey. It also allows parents and their kids to enjoy themselves and give back to the community.
Next month’s First Friday looks to have a heavy emphasis on music as it follows a local musical festival Sounds of the Spring on March 1.
