According to the latest report from the Georgia Department of Education, the Baldwin County School District (BCSD) has achieved a graduation rate of 89.2% in 2023, surpassing the statewide average of 84.4%.
Georgia calculates a four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate as required by federal law.
The number is determined by the number of students who graduate in four years with a regular high school diploma, divided by the number of students who form the adjusted cohort for the graduating class. An adjusted cohort rate is made from the beginning of ninth grade.
Students who are entering that grade for the first time form a cohort that is subsequently adjusted by adding any students who transfer into the cohort during the next three years and subtracting any students who transfer out.
These measures create the percentagea reflected.
BCSD’s progress reflects a significant improvement since 2014, when BCSD’s graduation rate stood at 66%, marking an increase of 23.2 percentage points over the past nine years.
BCSD’s commitment to enhancing educational outcomes for students has consistently positioned it ahead of the state average, underlining its dedication to ensuring students have opportunities after graduation.
