Exchange Bank, a trusted financial institution serving the Milledgeville community since 1903, partnered with the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce to host a special Business After Hours event commemorating its 120th Anniversary.
Exchange Bank’s President and CEO John C. Childs Jr. expressed his appreciation for the bank’s journey and the community it serves, saying, “The history of Exchange Bank began 120 years ago. Since its chartering on May 20, 1903, and opening on June 3, 1903, Exchange Bank has been dedicated to providing exceptional financial services. Over the years, we have expanded our reach with multiple branches and continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of our customers.”
Exchange Bank’s legacy is deeply intertwined with the Milledgeville community. From its original location at 120 W. Hancock St. to the present-day 250 W. It established additional branches on Wayne Street in 1963, in the Milledgeville Mall parking lot in 1972, and expanded into Jones County in 1998 and Lake Oconee in 2004. In 2017, the bank opened its Lake Sinclair Branch.
“Exchange Bank has beautiful buildings and facilities, innovative products and services. But it is my true belief that our people make the bank. We provide much more than financial transactions; we have a deep community spirit and foster personal relationships and customer trust,” Childs said.
Exchange Bank remains a pillar of strength and stability, successfully navigating economic challenges and recent times of uncertainty. Throughout its history, Exchange Bank has had the guidance of nine dedicated presidents, each playing a vital role in the bank’s continued success.
