SATURDAY, JULY 1

What: Milledgeville Fireworks More info: The City of Milledgeville will present the Independence Day Firework Celebration on July 1 just after dark on the campus of Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC). The parking lot at the campus will be closed off for the event. Suggested viewing areas for the fireworks include Walter B. Williams Park and the parking lot of the Board of Education.

FRIDAY, JULY 7

What: “Thank you for your service” Exhibit When: 2-4 p.m. Where: The Marlor House More info: Allied Arts will be displaying art by military veterans from the Georgia War Veterans Home to honor them for their service from July 7-21st. Stop by to support your local vets and thank them for their service! Opening Reception for the exhibit is on July 7 from 2 - 4 p.m. The contributing artists from the Georgia War Veterans Home will be present at this event.

What: Milly Market When: 4-7 p.m. Where: 222 E Hancock St. More info: The market includes locally grown produce, fresh blueberries, honey, eggs, herbs, live music, and more!

JULY 10-14

What: Peewee Basketball Camp When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: GC Wellness Center More info: Open to ages 5-12, this fun camp is designed for developing young players who want to improve their basketball skills and learn the rules of the game. The morning sessions will involve learning skills for all levels of players while the afternoons are filled with actual games. We will also be going to the pool, so don’t forget a swimsuit and towel. Lunch will not be provided, so please make sure to pack one. Cost $205. Register by visiting summercamps.gcsu.edu/athletics.

JULY 17-21

What: Songwriting Camp When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: Health Sciences Movement Lab More info: Open to musicians of all levels, this program will give campers the opportunity to express themselves through songwriting. They will get to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use digital audio workstations and MIDI programming and recording. Camp is open for 5th through 8th graders and costs $200. What: GC Soccer ID Camp When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Where: GC West Campus Soccer Field More info: This one-day camp is for girls grades 9-12 interested in showcasing their skills and playing soccer at the next level. The Bobcat ID Camp is open to all prospective studentathletes, giving them an important opportunity to gain nextlevel recognition for their talents and skills. Camp costs $125. What: Christmas in July When: 7 p.m. Where: Downtown Milledgeville More info: Start your Christmas shopping early in downtown Milledgeville with over 30 local vendors that will be set up for easy shopping access. Also, browse through the downtown boutiques and dine at restaurants! Live music will also be available from 5-7 p.m. by Ill Wind Band, Little Milly Market vendors, and a food truck or two.

JULY 24-27

What: Youth Baseball Camp When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: John Kurtz Baseball Field More info: For ages 5-12 and costs $150. We will work on the fundamentals of baseball and playing games. This camp is for players of all skill levels and will be geared around having fun. Register by visiting summercamps.gcsu.edu/athletics.

What: Kids’ University at Georgia College When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Mon-Fri) Where: Georgia College West Campus More info: Summer just wouldn’t be the same without the excitement and adventure of Kids’ University! This year, the spirit and tradition of Kids’ University day camp continues with a summer full of games, outdoor fun, swimming, arts and crafts, and new friendships. Campers will have daily opportunities to learn and have incredible amounts of FUN through learning, exploratory, and recreational activities. The camp will include a pro-style workout, defensive and offensive instruction, and a competitive game to finish up the day. Lunch is not provided. It is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to growing participation in the democratic process.
