What: Kids’ University at Georgia College When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Mon-Fri) Where: Georgia College West Campus More info: Summer just wouldn’t be the same without the excitement and adventure of Kids’ University! This year, the spirit and tradition of Kids’ University day camp continues with a summer full of games, outdoor fun, swimming, arts and crafts, and new friendships. Campers will have daily opportunities to learn and have incredible amounts of FUN through learning, exploratory, and recreational activities. What: Science Camp: Mystery Science When: 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Mon-Fri) Where: GC Main Campus, Friday Lake Laurel (GC East Campus) More info: For rising 6th-9th graders. Cost is $130 per child. Georgia College Academic Outreach and Science Education Center will explore the wonder and excitement of science through experiments, puzzles, and scientific mysteries of all sorts! What: Youth Tennis Camp - Session 2 When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: Tennis Courts at Centennial Center More info: Camp sessions are ages 5-17 and designed for all levels of play and will consist of comprehensive instruction, physical conditioning and match play. In addition, each camper will receive at least three hours of small group instruction per day. What: Little Bobcats Softball Camp When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: GC West Campus Softball Field More info: For girls, ages 5-12, this clinic will focus on several aspects including positional work, drill work, fundamental skill sets, hitting, base running and defensive play. Please note that this camp includes pool in the afternoons. Lunch will not be provided. A waiver of liability and emergency contact form are required. Cost is $200. What: Children’s “Let’s Make Music” Class When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1:30-4:30 p.m. Where: Allen’s Market (101 West Mcintosh Street) More info: Hosted by Billy Jonas, in partnership with Allied Arts, children can create instruments with household materials, learn about songwriting, and learn to play as an ensemble. What: Peewee Basketball Camp When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: GC Wellness Center More info: Open to ages 5-12, this fun camp is designed for developing young players who want to improve their basketball skills and learn the rules of the game. The morning sessions will involve learning skills for all levels of players while the afternoons are filled with actual games. We will also be going to the pool, so don’t forget a swimsuit and towel. What: Songwriting Camp When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: Health Sciences Movement Lab More info: Open to musicians of all levels, this program will give campers the opportunity to express themselves through songwriting. They will get to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use digital audio workstations and MIDI programming and recording. Camp is open for 5th through 8th graders and costs $200. The Bobcat ID Camp is open to all prospective studentathletes, giving them an important opportunity to gain nextlevel recognition for their talents and skills. Camp costs $125. What: Full Moon Float When: 8:30 p.m. Where: Oconee Outfitters More info: Experience kayaking the Oconee River by the light of the full moon. What: UGA Athletics Exhibition When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Where: Eatonton-Putnam County Library, 309 N Madison Ave, Eatonton More Info: Traveling exhibit of historical University of Georgia athletics materials and memorabilia will be on display, sponsored by UGA’s Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library. What: Mothers Against Crime Youth Rally When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Oconee Springs Park, 109 S. Spring Rd., Eatonton More info: Join Mothers Against Crime this Saturday for fun, food, and recreation at Putnam County’s beautiful Oconee Springs Park. Churches, parents, get your kids together and bring them to St. John AME Church (220 Willie Bailey St., Eatonton) by 9:30 a.m. if you need a ride to the park. Free food and drinks will be available, plus free flip-flops and a beach towel will be given to every kid who attends. Don’t forget your bathing suits!

What: 4th annual Poker Run on Lake Sinclair When: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Where: Dennis Station Boat Ramp More info: $55 entry fee per player. Hosted by Georgia’s Old Capital Heritage Center at The Depot, the 4th annual Lake Sinclair Poker Run is a giant scavenger hunt on Lake Sinclair that begins at Dennis Station in Putnam County at 9:30 a.m. when players receive maps and instructions. A short briefing with a DNR representative follows at 9:45 a.m., before boats head out. Players follow their maps to specific locations around the lake, where they pick up a playing card. During the day they explore the lake, enjoy a cook-out on Goat Island prepared by Aubri Lane’s at The Club ($20 extra per player), meet new friends, and learn some local history. From 2-3 p.m., players return to Dennis Station, where they reveal their cards. Five-card poker rules apply, with the best hand winning $1,000 and $500 going to the runner-up.
