Four service clubs joined forces to give the veterans a big party day.
Last week, the Garden Club of Milledgeville transformed the Memorial Garden at the Veterans Home. The Rotary Club donated money for some beautiful new pots which the Garden Club, with the help of Duckworth Farm Supply, filled with red, white, and blue flowers in readiness for Memorial Day weekend.
The Lions Club and former Pilots Club provided a wonderful lunch of burgers which was rounded off with ice cream and cookies. To make this occasion even more delightful, the Sunnyside Mountain Boys played bluegrass music and hymns. Adding to the community spirit, Griffin Whipple, 10, spent two hours of his community service time giving the Memorial Garden a final cleanup and watering.
It was a very happy time spent by all. Thank you to the Milledgeville community and service clubs for making this happen.
