Allied Arts is offering two art programs for children this summer: Children's Watercolor Painting with Audrey and the Let's Make Music class with Billy Jonas.
Watercolor Painting with Audrey will introduce children to the special qualities of painting with watercolor. The class covers basic color theory and color mixing. There will be an introduction to watercolor washes, wet into wet, wet or dry, and special effects using salt, plastic wrap, sponges, and other natural items. Session 1 will be June 12-16 and session 2 will be June 19-23. Both classes will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday and are geared toward 8–13-years-old. The cost for this class is $75.
The Let's Make Music class with Billy Jonas is a first ever program for Allied Arts. Billy Jonas believes that creating a bright future starts with children. Using homemade and recyclable 're-percussion' instruments, songs that celebrate community as well as personal and planetary ecology, his think-outside-the-box performances occur around the country.
The goal of the class is to plant musical seeds that will help grow creative, open-minded, engaged and openhearted citizens of the world.
The program will be offered over two days with morning and afternoon sessions.
Morning sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and afternoon sessions will be from 1:30-4:30 p.m. The two morning sessions will be with the same group of campers, and he will work with another group of children both afternoons (same afternoon group each day). The age range for this program is 5-11 years old.
