Come join the fun as you learn a variety of dances from the Shag, Waltz, Swing Rhythm, and Foxtrot. This course is guaranteed to be lots of fun for beginners or advanced dancers looking to polish their dance moves. Couples are recommended but singles are welcome!

What: Georgia Artists with Disabilities Exhibit When: Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: The Marlor House More info: Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc. was founded by the Pilot Clubs of Metropolitan Atlanta in 1985, enabling disabled artists throughout Georgia with the opportunity to display and sell their original art, as well as being eligible to compete for awards.

What: Foraging with Friends When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Where: GCSU East Campus More info: We will explore native trees and other plants, fungi, discover ways to find animals in the woods, and look into some of the resources our woods can provide. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of local flora and fauna, a booklet and resources to help with Identification in the future. Participants should dress appropriately for the woods including comfortable walking shoes, bug spray and sunscreen. The event is $20. Call 478-445-5277 to register.

What: Learning in Retirement When: 11:15 a.m. Where: Freedom Church, 500 Underwood Rd., Milledgeville More Info: An informative speaker will talk while lunch is served. Lunch is $15. What: Launch of Milledgeville’s Sesquicentennial Murders When: 3-6 p.m. Where: The Red Door (33 South Wayne Street, Milledgeville) More info: Author Susan Lindsley details forgotten facts in her book Milledgeville’s Sesquicentennial Murders. She provides legal documents and court testimony for events. The book is scheduled to be launched on May 2, the 70 th anniversary of the shootings. Those who purchase their book on May 2 will receive a gold label on the cover of the book to commemorate the two dates.

What: Full Moon Float When: 8 p.m. Where: Oconee River Greenway More info: Experience kayaking the Oconee River by the light of the full moon. What: ServSafe Food Safety Management Certification When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Where: Chappell Hall 113 More info: Not just for managers, this full course is also for owners, operators, F&B directors, chefs, line cooks, kitchen managers, dietary managers, dieticians, and anyone else who needs food safety training and certification. This program is nationally recognized and accepted by the Georgia Department of Community Health, and the certification is valid for five years. The fee is $135 and includes instruction and a paper exam. The deadline to register is May 5.

What: Science Camp Jr: Mystery Science When: 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Mon-Th) Where: GC Main Campus, Friday Lake Laurel (GC East Campus) More info: For rising 3rd-5th graders and for rising 6th-9th graders.

What: Creature Camp: Newborn & Nesting When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Where: Monday-Wednesday Main campus & Centennial Hall, Thursday-Friday, Lake Laurel More info: We will search the woods and the waters for baby animals of all sorts, grow a few of our own, learn all about their life cycles, why they look the way they do and what to do if we find one. What: Songwriting Camp When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: Health Sciences Movement Lab More info: Open to musicians of all levels, this program will give campers the opportunity to express themselves through songwriting! They will get to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use Digital Audio Workstations and MIDI programming and recording. Camp is open for fifth through eighth graders and costs $200. What: The Odd Couple When: April 20-22, 7 p.m.; April 23, 2:30 p.m. Where: The Plaza Arts Center, 305 N Madison Ave, Eatonton More Info: Featuring local talent, directed by Dennis McClain and Sarah Daly Weir, The Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts (PAPA) presents “The Odd Couple,” Neil Simon’s classic comedy in which the clean freak and the slob go head-to-head. What: Earth Day 2023 When: 1-5 p.m. Where: Butterflies & Blooms Habitat, 617 N. Jefferson Ave., Eatonton More Info: Butterflies & Blooms in the Briar Patch celebrates Earth Day 2023. The theme this year is Invest in Our Planet. Greg Lewis, owner of Flat Creek Natives, will have diverse plants native to this region for sale, and Mike Barwick, an expert gardener, will explain and sell non-native larval host plants, as well as hand-pollinated hybrid daylilies and native plants. Investing in your garden or donating to the habitat is a way to actively “Invest in Our Planet.”

Visit downtown Eatonton for a fun day of shopping and art. Vendors will be selling their best arts and crafts items while Putnam County art students create one-of-a-kind pieces of chalk art on nearby sidewalks.
