What: Masters in Milly When: 6-8 p.m. Where: Downtown Milledgeville More info: Come down and test your golfing skills and enjoy music by Milledgeville’s own DJ Rafi from 6-8 pm. Our hole sponsors will be set up to cheer you on with games and prizes. We will have a raffle for an amazing Masters basket complete with pimento cheese, egg salad, and even Masters cups. Tickets for the raffle will be 1 for $5.00 or 5 for $20.00. The winner of the raffle will be chosen during the event just in time to enjoy it over Masters weekend.

What: CASA Volunteer Training When: 1-4 p.m. Where: Lakeview Academy, 220 N ABC N, Milledgeville More info: Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will hold a new volunteer training beginning Wednesday, April 12, from 1-4 pm at Lakeview Academy in Milledgeville. The training lasts for 9 sessions and will be held every Monday and Wednesday until May 10. CASA volunteers advocate in Juvenile Court for the best interests of children in foster care. The GMC Hall of Heroes pays tribute to alumni of the GMC Corps of Cadets who have demonstrated extraordinary service to our nation while bringing honor to Georgia Military College.

What: Foraging with friends When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Where: GCSU East Campus More info: We will explore native trees and other plants, fungi, discover ways to find animals in the woods, and look into some of the resources our woods can provide. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of local flora and fauna, a booklet and resources to help with Identification in the future. What: ServSafe Food Safety Management Certification When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Where: Chappell Hall 113 More info: Not just for managers, this full course is also for owners, operators, F&B directors, chefs, line cooks, kitchen managers, dietary managers, dieticians, and anyone else who needs food safety training and certification. This program is nationally recognized and accepted by the Georgia Department of Community Health, and the certification is valid for five years. The fee is $135 and includes instruction and a paper exam. The deadline to register is May 5.

What: Songwriting Camp When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: Health Sciences Movement Lab More info: Open to musicians of all levels, this program will give campers the opportunity to express themselves through songwriting! They will get to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use Digital Audio Workstations and MIDI programming and recording. Camp is open for fifth through eighth graders and costs $200. The theme this year is Invest in Our Planet. Greg Lewis, owner of Flat Creek Natives, will have diverse plants native to this region for sale, and Mike Barwick, an expert gardener, will explain and sell non-native larval host plants, as well as hand-pollinated hybrid daylilies and native plants. Investing in your garden or donating to the habitat is a way to actively “Invest in Our Planet.”

What: “Peg Leg” Howell BBQ & Blues Festival When: 2-10 p.m. Where: City Center Stage, Eatonton More info: Join the City of Eatonton for the inaugural “Peg Leg” HowellBBQ&BluesFestival. Joshua“PegLeg”Howellwasborn in Eatonton in 1888 and at age 21, taught himself to play guitar. In 1926, his song, “New Prison Blues,” became the first country blues record ever to be issued by Columbia Records. Howell died in 1966 at the age 78, in Atlanta. This free event will feature a full day of live blues music, along with authentic BBQ.
