Georgia Military College Preparatory School (GMC Prep) was thrilled to welcome Broadway Star, Adam Jacobs, to campus for the Elementary School Fine Arts production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr.

As part of GMC Prep School’s Guest Artist Series, Jacobs is the fifth Broadway star to visit in the past year. Other guest artists included Derek Klena, Lila Coogan, Jenn Gambatese, and Hugh Panaro, all of whom are accomplished artists with impressive theatre portfolios.

Originally from Half Moon Bay, Calif., Jacobs began his early performing career as a pianist studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. After playing for eight years (ages 5-13), he decided to forgo the concert pianist route and try something new. He found his artistic outlet through art classes and musical theater. Jacobs went on to attend New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied with the Collaborative Arts Project Musical Theater Program (CAP21) as well as the Stonestreet Film and Television Studios program. Today, Jacobs is best known for originating the title role of Aladdin in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. He also starred as Marius in Les Misérables 2006 Broadway Revival and Simba in Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway.

In addition to GMC Prep cast members getting the chance to ask questions, gain valuable insight to the theatre world, and practice with Jacobs, the leading roles were also able to perform an encore presentation with the Broadway star during the Thursday evening show.

GMC understands the importance of providing students with the tools to develop and build a solid foundation in the world of performing arts. GMC Prep School’s Guest Artist Series provides students with a unique and rare opportunity to develop skills and learn from industry professionals. GMC Prep is proud to provide a comprehensive education that prepares students for success in life, no matter the path they choose.

“The impact of having Broadway stars come to GMC to work with our students is invaluable,” said Mark Weaver, director of the GMC Prep School fine arts program “This is such a special experience you don’t see in many schools; it provides our students with an opportunity they likely wouldn’t have otherwise and we are so happy to be able to offer this Guest Artist Series to our students.”

The production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. was the culmination of months of rehearsals from GMC Prep School third through fifth graders. With Jacobs’ guidance, the production was an unforgettable experience for the 130 cast members and all in attendance.
