Milledgeville Main Street hosted February’s First Friday: Flannel & Food Trucks on Feb. 3 from 5-8 p.m. Downtown Milledgeville was full of activities, including ax throwing, live folk music, food trucks and a blacksmith demonstration.
The 100 block of South Wayne Street is where local food truck vendors gathered. There were barbeque options from Southern Dawgs Catering and CK’s Smokehouse, turkey thighs and desserts by Glo’s Thighs and Pies, hot donuts from The Dough Co., fish and wings from Saucy Saucy and Devereux Crab Shack, Philly cheesesteaks from ABC Catering, and seafood and fair food from Annie Lou’s Seafood & More.
The highlight of the event was Savage Axe’s mobile ax-throwing trailer and inflatable ax-throwing area for younger attendees. The lines were long and the country music blaring from the trailer added to the folk atmosphere of the event.
Alongside the ax throwing, attendees also gathered for the Ocmulgee Blacksmith Guild live demonstration. They led demonstrations making railroad spike knives, hooks, leather journals, sheaths, pens, wood crafts and more, which were for sale during the event.
In the middle of everything, live music was provided by The Alex Stone Trio. According to a previous press release, Alex Stone is a Milledgeville native who has been involved in several regional groups spread across multiple genres including The Woofs, Station 7, and most recently DireWoof. The trio played a mix of country and acoustic music with a mix of eclectic funk.
Between the bustle of music and folk activities, participants gathered around fire pits and interacted with nonprofit and local sponsor booths.
