The Baldwin County Board of Education was recognized by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) as a 2022 Exemplary Board at their winter conference in December.
This is the sixth year in a row that the board has received this award, which recognizes best practices in school governance and leadership. The Baldwin County Board of Education exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn the honor of 2022 Exemplary Board.
Congratulations to the Baldwin County School Board for receiving this honor. Board Members are Board Chair Dr. Gloria Wicker (District 1), Vice-Chair Shannon Hill (District 2), Lyn Chandler (District 3), John Jackson (District 4) and Wes Cummings (District 5). GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement.
The board was also the recipient of the Leading Edge Award, which “seeks to highlight school districts that are leading the way in ensuring students are competitive in an ever-changing global market,” according to the GSBA. This unique achievement recognizes innovative design and implementation of projects and programs by local governance teams that are having a significant positive impact on student achievement and engagement.
“All of our board members work tirelessly to provide the right oversight and leadership to our public schools here in Baldwin County and this recognition is a testament to the positive impact their hard work is having on our students, employees and community,” said Dr. Noris Price, Baldwin County superintendent.
The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance to recognize exemplary leadership.
In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local boards of education. The GSBA Board recognition program is a three-tiered program. For more information on the program visit the GSBA website for awards and recognition or to view the criteria for all tiers of the program.
