Law enforcement was involved in a vehicle pursuit Jan. 5 after Barloshon Yarber had reportedly taken the vehicle belonging to his wife. Officers heard the vehicle approaching South Jefferson Street after failed attempts to find the vehicle in other parking lots.
A traffic stop was initiated, but Yarber drove around the police vehicle and proceeded north on South Elbert Street. Yarber drove through three stop signs during the chase and eventually lost control of his vehicle after striking another vehicle parked in a driveway on Marion Street. His vehicle would then strike a ditch and come to a stop.
Yarber fled the vehicle and ran on foot but stopped after several verbal commands from officers. Yarber was arrested and Old Capitol Wrecker service towed his vehicle.
Yarber was charged with outstanding warrants issued against him by the Sheriff’s Office and a hold was placed on him for an outstanding warrant from Wilkinson County.
He was also issued several citations, including driving while license suspended, fleeing/attempting to elude police officers, reckless driving, and three stop sign violations.
