Law enforcement secured a stolen vehicle out of Bibb County filled with drug-related objects Dec. 24.
The vehicle was last seen driving north on Highway 49 near the Jones County line, coming into Baldwin County. According to the report, Deputies Butts and Braziel located the vehicle driving north in the area of Highway 49 and Felton Drive. South of Allen Memorial Drive, officer Brandon Towe, Sgt. Brown, Butts, Braziel and multiple MPD units all assisted a felony traffic stop on the vehicle. The officers worked together to close off the roadway and detain the driver and passengers. Dispatch advised that Bibb County verified the vehicle to be stolen through their agency as of Dec. 22.
The driver identified himself as Winfred Felts and advised law enforcement that he borrowed the vehicle with permission. According to the report, Felts stated that everything in the bed of the truck belonged to him and that a diamond ring inside the truck was also his. He denied owning anything else inside the vehicle. Felts was wanted out of Bibb County with multiple warrants and a caution for violent tendencies.
According to a secondary report by Deputy Butts, he detained passengers Travis Briscoe and Alexis Horn in the back of his patrol car. Horn reported that the driver had a bowl of crystal methamphetamine in the stolen truck. The two passengers were wanted out of Bibb County and Twiggs County.
A wrecker was called to the scene, and a vehicle inventory was started. In the driver’s door, Towe located a silver container with suspected methamphetamine inside. In the center console was a container of suspected marijuana, multiple (possibly 100 or more) empty bags commonly used to package illegal narcotics and a magazine containing 9mm bullets.
In the glove compartment, Towe discovered two scales commonly used to weigh drugs prior to distribution and located a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol under the driver’s seat. In the bed of the truck, among the clothes that Felts said belonged to him, was the original factory box to the firearm. The firearm was not reported to be stolen, and Felts stated it belonged to someone else.
Warrants for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession and use of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm in commission of certain crimes were secured for Felts. Additionally, he received a citation for failing to maintain insurance. Both Briscoe and Horn were charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession and use of drug-related objects. The vehicle was taken into possession by Old Capitol.
