What: Reindeer Flight School When: 6-9 p.m. Where: 101 Sportsmans Club Road Northeast More info: Walk through a winter wonderland in Baldwin County’s largest lights display! Reindeer Flight School cannot be completely seen from the road, plan to park and walk around through over 40,000 lights on trees, additional lights on snowflakes, wreaths, flying reindeer, and more on display. Photo opportunities are abundant and be sure to climb atop a life-size wooden reindeer. Santa sightings are possible nightly, but he typically appears on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9 p.m. Admission is free to all but donations are greatly appreciated! The Reindeer Flight School is off 441, near Serenity Spa. Turn on Old Sportsman Club Road then the third street on the right. You cannot miss it! Lights and Santa do not appear in the rain.

Where: Lakeview Academy, 220 N/ ABC St., Milledgeville More info: CASA will hold a new volunteer training class beginning Jan. 18, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at Lakeview Academy in Milledgeville. More info: The Eatonton Elks Lodge #2549 will host its annual basketball free-throw contest for boys and girls aged 8-13 at the Putnam County Recreation Center. Free registration at the Rec. Center the day of the contest, prior to scheduled start. Winners will have the opportunity to advance to regional, state and national competitions.

More info: PGH Auxiliary members are volunteers who support the hospital through various fundraising events and by occasionally donating their time in the operating room suites and physical rehab facilities.

What: First Day Hike When: 11 a.m to 1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.
Where: 5 Hard Labor Creek Rd, Rutledge More info: Ranger-led hike will take visitors along gentle ridges and cascading creeks at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Start the New Year off right with a 2-mile, moderate to rigorous, scenic hike geared toward active adults and children over 8 years old. Limited to 20 hikers each session. Pre-registration required by 5 p.m. Dec. 31.
Please specify which hike you plan to attend. Bring water, snacks, comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Arrive to the park 15-20 minutes prior to the event, as we will caravan to the starting point. Please be on time as we will not wait for tardy attendees. Hike admission: $3; parking fee: $5.
